I use Roku for streaming services and the colors and sound are fantastic. I currently run a 3.1 surround sound and it's really give a 3D sound to sports and movies. Definitely a step above the Onkyo in the same price range. For the price this receiver rocks. Next, ordering surround sound speakers to complete 5.1 The setup for this is really nice with the on screen settings. Yes you need to understand how to setup your speakers, but it also has a wizard type guide to help you with that. I'm a pro tech so I understand how to set it up. There are a lot of options and some of it will depend on your tv and personal preferences. One note, make sure you buy quality HDMI cables, ones that can run 8K and 60Hz. The video and sound will be much better if you do. Cables are not equal so do your research. Thanks Denon for a superb product.

I currently have 5 .1 speakers and would like to buy additional speakers to fullfil the 7.2, i am lost between dolby atmos ceiling speakers or the ones that just point up, do you have an illustration of the ideal speaker configuration to maximize the potential of Denon, and another question, does Denon prefer a specific speaker brand? thank you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my application I wanted a receiver that won't break the bank, but sound good and has 8K capability for future use. I have this installed running 7.2 (2 front, 2 surround, 1 center, 2 ceiling atmos, and 2 subs). I found the menu settings user friendly, and was able to tweak the settings for the best sound in my living room. I had issues with bluetooth connectivity, and called support. They were able to resolve my issue promptly. So far I have had this receiver for about a month. I wanted to give it time to break my speakers in. I am pleased with the sound quality for both music and movies. For a refurb product, it is excellent.

The numeric volume increments no longer display across the bottom of the screen when I change volume. Why?

Hi Bob, It could be one of a few things. What to check: Have a look at your TV input. If you are on one of the TV's apps, or on any input other than the AVR input, the AVR OSD will not be visible. How can I connect my desktop computer located in another room to the X1700H and listen to it in ZONE2 (speakers also in the other room)? Is it even possible to do this with this receiver?

Hello, It is possible. It might require long wire runs going back and forth. From the desktop you would use an analog cable (3.5mm jack at the desktop end and RCA pair at the AVR end). If you already have speakers mounted in the other room, from your AVR-X1700H you would have your Zone 2 speakers connected to the AVR's Surround Back speaker ports (assigned to Zone 2 duties). If you do not already have speaker in the other room, one or two of our wireless Home Speakers can be used to save you some wire runs. If you want the least complicated means to doing this, you can simply connect our Home speakers to your desktop computer using an analog cable with 3.5mm jacks at both ends, connected to the AUX port of the Home Speaker/s and your desktop's headphone output.. Is this support with sony speakers with 3 ohm rated impedance 5.1 setup

Hello, The AVR-X1700H will probably be able to power your 3 ohm Sony speakers, but without knowing the model number, it is difficult to be certain how well the two will pair. Impedance only tells part of the story.

would this AVR-X1700H be able to pair with Octicon more hearing aid . while being paired will it also play the speakers as well. I would hate that if I pair and mutes the speakers.

Hi Ian, If by 'pair' you mean Bluetooth, then you should be okay because the AVR-X1700H has a Bluetooth transmitter. In the Bluetooth transmitter settings you can select an output to both your speakers and with Bluetooth to your hearing aid simultaneously. Owing to how Bluetooth technology is implemented, you may notice a little delay compared with the sound from the speakers.

I have an X1700H running a TV (HDMI ARC), and three speakers. Could you tell me how to configure the system to run a Resound hearing aid streamer with this receiver?

Hello, We have no knowledge of Resound Hearing Aid devices, and without a resound model number, we cannot be sure which model to reference. If it is a Bluetooth hearing device, the AVR-X1700H should work as it has a Bluetooth transmitter. All Bluetooth devices connecting to the AVR-X1700H's Bluetooth transmitter have volume adjustment on the external device only. Volume adjustment on the AVR-X1700H does not affect the signal to Bluetooth devices connecting this way.
