Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, able to hear albums again! Absolutely wonderful turntable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoroughly Satisfied! I have a long history with Denon Products; AVR-790 Amp/Tuner, a DCD-1560 CD Player and a DRW-585 Cassette Player. Last year (Summer 2020), in preparation to digitize my old vinal collection, I had a Kenwood KA-801 Amp refurbished. Next, I researched USB Capable Turntables and ultimately selected the Denon DP-450USB. This turntable combined with an Ortofon 2M Black Cartridge have exceeded all of my expectations! Keep Up the Great Engineering Denon and Thank You for helping me thoroughly enjoy my vinal collection, once again!!!!!...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new DP - 450 USB turntable. I love my new turntable ! You should offer an up grade to a high end cartridge, I switched it to my Ortofan and it sounds Great ! I just couldn't see paying 1100.00 to 1400.00 for a turn table and I'm glad I found you guys. I have a Denon receiver and a Denon DVD/CD player and they all sound Awesome together ! Thanks Much !!

Questions

I'm considering upgrading the cartridge of my dp-450usb. What's the effective mass of the tonearm? What MM cartridges would you recommend?

Asked by: MarkR
Hi MarkR, While I do not have a listing of the DP-450USB's tonearm effective mass, I can tell you the recommended cartridge weight range is 5-13g. Recommending amoving magnet cartridge isn't easy to do without knowing your budget, but I suggest considering the Audio Technica AT-VM95SH if you are after a considerable improvement over the stock cartridge. It performs well at it's price point and will also work well with the DP-450USB.

How do you download the “MusiCut for DENON" software - in the manual it states that I can "Download MusiCut for DENON to your computer from “Downloads” on the DP-450USB page on our website." However there is no link to download it on any of your pages.

Asked by: Shawn Shawn
Hello, The link to the MusiCut For Denon software can be found just beneath the Questions & Answers section on the DP-450USB page on our website. Here is a link to the software in question: https://www.denon.com/-/media/files/documentmaster/denonna/music_cut.zip

How to connect DP-450USB to Denon Home 250. Will be wanting another speaker 250 and CD player. Thanks

Asked by: Dawizardpc
Hello, The DP-450USB can be connected to the Home 250 using an RCA to 3.5 mm cable. The DP-450USB's equalizer switch on it's back panel will need to be switched to 'on'. Then select the 'AUX' input of the Home 250 in your HEOS app. A CD player can be connected to the rear panel of another Home 250 speaker using the same type of cable.

Can this record player connect to a Bluetooth speaker?

Asked by: Hbmolly
Hello, Yes - the DP450USB can connect to a Bluetooth speaker with an RCA to 3.5 mm cable (many Bluetooth speakers have a 3.5 mm port, but not all do). It would be necessary to use the DP-450USB's internal phono pre-amp when connected this way.

Does this return when the record is done like the tone arm?

Asked by: Petre
Correction to the Denon response:  I do own this turntable and it is considered a semi-automatic turntable.  The tone arm does not return, but it does lift at the record-about 5 seconds after the end of the runout groove to be more specific.

My existing turntable is a Pioneer PLA-45D with a Shure M91ED cartridge. Is the DP-450USB comparable (better/same/less)? How so? Tracking force was a thing in the 1970s. 1gram (or was it 0.5gram) was good. What it the tracking force on the DP-450USB?

Asked by: Donn
Hi Donn, The PLA-45D was higher-end turntable in it's day. Essentially a direct drive version of the PL-12D. In today's world, the PLA-45D would be close to a $2k turntable. The DP-450USB is great value, offering quality sound from a turntable in it's price range. The convenience of the extra features not found in yesterday's turntables, such as an analog to digital convertor/USB output, and built-in phono stage are bonuses to an already nicely equipped set-up (the cartridge is included too). Tracking force is determined by the requirement of the cartridge, but is still adjusted at the counter-weight. It is still just as important. If not set correctly, it can result in damage to the LP, and also the cartridge. As the cartridge is already mounted, there's no need to break-out the jeweler's scales.
