Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crisp clean sound and quality I have this amp powering Klipsch surround and tower speakers and the crisp clean clear sounds and vibrant bass is very satisfying to the ears. I replaced my 80’s Harmon Kardon system and this is a step up. Technology has definitely been added and I had to learn the system and I am still learning it. However it’s an enjoyable process. It is complicated at first, but it is much easier after figuring out the app on my phone. I love that part.

I upgraded my cables and now I LOVE it. I'm rewatching and relistening to a lot of my collection and absolutely hearing new things. It was a significant upgrade from my AVR-X2000 and worth every penny.

Questions

The product manual describes three types of connections for playing content on the ZONE2, that is, via HDMI, PRE OUT or SPEAKERS connectors. Can these methods be combined? For example, could I have my ZONE2 fed via both HDMI and SPEAKERS at the same time?

Hello. Yes. With the AVR-X3800H, once you select a Zone 2 source, the content will be available through the (assigned) Zone 2 speaker ports, the Zone 2 HDMI terminal and the Zone 2 Pre-out simultaneously.

Does the 2024 model of this receiver have three assignable pairs, up from two on last years model?

Hello, We haven't changed anything with assignable speaker ports since the inception of the AVR-X3800H. Three of the speaker pair ports are still assignable. Nine channels are powered, so if you have all eleven speaker ports connected, two of them will not be powered without switching the configuration to null one of the other wired pairs (switching between a 9.1 set-up to a 7.1 + Zone 2 set-up for example).

I have an AC Infinity fan on top of my present AV receiver. Will this still be ok with your receiver, as I read that it requires 6 inches of space on the top?

Hello, While we have not tested any of Inifinity's fan products, we understand they are proving to be effective with many of our customers who use one with their Denon AVRs. 6" clearance is recommended for those who do not have an Infinity fan for their Denon AVRs.

Hello, will this receiver work fine with three audio-only zones (terrace, living room, kitchen with two speakers per zone) and one video/audio zone (family)? if yes, how many speakers can I connect to the family? Thanks

Hello, Yes - when you add our wireless Home speakers you can have up to 32 different Zones for the AVR-X3800H to feed. Each zone can have a single or multiple speakers. Even a wireless subwoofer can be paired with any wireless Home speakers in any room. Does the x3800H have a 70% guarantee like the Marantz Cinema 60?

Hello, Yes - the AVR-X3800H has the same 5 channel 70% guarantee as found on the Marantz Cinema 60. Given how most speakers require only a few watts to go loud, it is unlikely you will need to consider approaching full output. We recommend staying below 96dB to help prevent permanent hearing damage.

Will HEOS stream Dolby Atmos and other spatial formats to the X3800H?

Hello, Unfortunately, even though the AVR-X3800H supports it as a surround sound format, Dolby Atmos streaming is not currently supported by HEOS.

Hello, Can I add an independent subwoofer for zone 2 so that this zone has a 2.1 configuration?

Hello, Yes - it is possible to add a sub-woofer to the Zone 2 speaker feed - so long as it is a sub-woofer with speaker inputs and outputs. The sub-woofer would need to be connected with speaker wire, with the output feed from your sub-woofer's speaker ports continuing to your Zone 2 speakers. Alternatively, if you do not have a sub-woofer with speaker ports, you can add any of our wireless Home Speakers to use in up to 32 different locations throughout your home, with our wireless Home Sub-woofer in a 2.1 configuration.
