Do the sacd players go on sale like the current promotion on receivers? Interested in this product but of course sale prices are a great motivator.

Hello, The current promotion on receivers is for the outgoing models, as they have since been replaced. The DCD-1700NE is a very new addition to our line-up. At some point it may appear as a refurbished item at a reduced price, but it is mere speculation as we can never be sure which models will appear among our refurbished items.

Hello, I recommend doing a soft reset. This involves unplugging your DCD-1700NE from it's power source for 15 minutes and then power-up again. If this does not solve the issue, please contact your dealer for assistance.

Does this covert the SACD layer into PCM before playback? Or does the internal DAC keep the DSD file unaltered for playback? Thanks.

Hi Kbot, That's a good question. With the DCD-1700NE, the information on the SACD layer does not get converted to PCM prior to analog conversion.

what are differences or Improvements between this model & the former DCD - 1600NE model ?

I have been trying to find an answer to this question too and as far as specs they are exactly the same from info provided by Denon itself.  As far as gold plated RCA inputs I can’t confirm but if that is the only difference then its trivial and certainly not worth an upgrade.

How do I connect headphones to this cd player? Do we need an amplifier like the Denon PMA-1700NE? If so, what cable should I use to connect the DCD-1700NE to the PMA-1700NE?

Hello, The PMA-1700NE is the matching integrated amplifier for the DCD-1700NE, and would be a very suitable way to allow for headphone use, as the DCD-1700NE does not have a headphone port. The recommended way to connect the two components for the best performance would be to use a good quality set of analog interconnects.

What's the best connection with the AVR-X3700H, optical or rca.

Hello, When connecting the DCD-1700NE to an AVR-X3700H, it is recommended to use analog RCA interconnects. This allows you to enjoy not just CDs, but also Super Audio CDs - which is a playback feature of the DVD-1700NE. Optical and coaxial digital outputs do not support SACD (DSD) information transfer.

Hello, what are differences or Improvements between this model & the former DCD - 1600NE model ? Also does this model read & play ISO files of SACD burned on DVD-R media ?

You'll have to extract the tracks from the ISO. It's a specific format, so search for SACD extract and its GUI.
