Rated 5 out of 5 by from NOW the 4800 is Next Level! Dirac Live is Here! So the receiver was already a top notch upgrade, saying you have a nice set of speakers and a quality sources. But Dirac Live (Full Version) is next level, this is your reason to upgrade to the AVR-X4800H. It makes such a cohesive and balanced bubble of sound after properly* configuring Dirac (make sure to watch a few YouTube videos). Save the default results as flat, and then create a movie and music curve the way you want it to sound. Once you have it how you think* you want it, upload it to the AVR and take it for a spin. Dirac has finally freed Denon AVR's into something exceptional, not just great. JUST FYI: You'll need a MiniDSP Umik-1 (or version 2, but not necessary), the curve text file from MiniDSP (90 degree version), a microphone stand to place the mic as instructed, the full Dirac license, your laptop annnd everyone out of the room (as close to absolute silence as possible). Watch some videos on setting up Dirac 3 so that you understand the initial settings etc. After each position is completed, hold on to your hats! You may need to adjust volumes here and there afterward, but you will notice that, wow, this thing sounds WAY better than Audyssey on its very best day in a perfect world with the Apps. Denon, thank you for adding Direc Live 3, now can we have Dirac Bass Management and Dirac ART (Active Room Treatment)? Unstoppable? Thank you in advance.

I recently upgraded from an AVR-3808CI and am unable to get sound from my Sony Blu-ray BDP-BX57. This is an old player. It worked fine with the 3808CI and I have tried changing audio options in the Blu-ray's settings. No luck so far..any suggestions?

Asked by: mattsdcubs
Hello, Depending on it's age, you may want to look at upgrading your HDMI cable from the Blu-ray player to the AVR-X4800H. We recommend Audioquest as their cables have yet to let us down. It's also worth checking the settings of the input feed of your AVR. Here is a link which shows you how to access this section of the menu and how to tell it you have an HDMI cable feed: https://manuals.denon.com/AVRX4800H/NA/EN/GFNFSYicezyjvb.php Settings > Input > Input Assign. If you are having difficulties with this symptom, some trouble-shooting will be required. Here is a link to our Product Support Team. Will it power 4ohm speakers sufficiently?

Asked by: Jon B
Hello, Without knowing which make and model of speaker is in question, we are unable to offer many details (impedance is an average measurement, and four ohm speakers can vary wildly with how much of an impedance swing is offered), but we can say the AVR-X4800H is well-equipped to handle a four ohm load.

Do the HDMI outputs support the HDMI 2.1a cable power option which allows active HDMI cables to be powered directly from the HDMI output connector, without attaching a separate power cable?

Asked by: cbhpi
Hello, The AVR-X4800H supports CEC (HDMI Control) which can allow for other compatible HDMI connected components to be actiavted when otherwise in standby mode. Compatible HDMI cables are required for this feature to work. We recommend using Ultra High Speed HDMI cables from a reputable brand.
