Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy This is my first soundbar and I'm very happy with it. Set up is very easy, sound is incredible, and I love that I can adjust the level of bass as needed depending on what I'm watching.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Denon DHT-S517 is just right The DHT-S517 has all the features I wanted and does them very well at a nice price: - The dialog enhancer really works and even made my wife happy. No more closed caption during shows. - The pure mode for music is my preferred listening mode and is clear, detailed and just sounds right. - The wireless subwoofer provides the low end at whatever level we want. - Dolby Atmos decoding with upfiring speakers makes it future proof as more and more streaming services are adding it.

Questions

How can I get the soundbar to recognize more than one bluetooth device? Currently I must completely delete the soundbar from my phone's memorized connections to get the soundbar to recognize any other bluetooth device.

Asked by: Joey202
Hello, The DHT-S517 can only connect with one device at a time. If you are having difficulties re-connecting, it is recommended you remove as many lesser-used 'Peviously Connected Devices' as possible from your mobile device's bluetooth settings. You could also try a reset on your DHT-S517. This involves disconnecting it from it's power source for at least 15 minutes and reconnecting again. If you continue to have the same issue, here is a link with how to contact our Customer Care Team. They are on hand to trouble-shoot: https://www.denon.com/en-us/support/contact-us.html

How would I connect a Bluetooth emitter (for a wireless headphones) to this bar? The emitter has USB and optical inputs. Would the headphones connect directly to the bar via Bluetooth?

Asked by: GregC
Hello, the Bluetooth Emitter will work best when connected to the television. The Soundbar does not offer an audio-out connection. Connect the Bluetooth Emitter to the television's optical audio out and connect the Soundbar to the television's HDMI ARC. If the television does not have an HDMI ARC connection, a Bluetooth Emitter with an analog input may be required.

I have the Denon S517 soundbar. I use Earc to my Sony x90L Earc (nothing else in any port). On my Sony tv settings,do I turn passthrough to auto or off using the built in streaming apps like netflix, youtubetv, prime video to get best sound quality?

Asked by: Wags0011
Hello, If you have nothing else connected to your Sony TV, it probably won't matter either way, as passthrough isn't being utilized if you have nothing else connected, and none of the apps within the TV can operate if the TV is not powered-up. As we do not have this Sony TV at hand, you may wish to put your question to Sony.

I see my Denon s517 soundbar has a usb port on the back that says for firmware updates. Where can I find the firmware update?

Asked by: Wags0011
Hello, Currently, there are no firmware updates for the DHT-S517. Were are not expecting any firmware updates for the DHT-S517. It's more of a 'just in case' USB port.

Sony tv using the eARC and this soundbar. It seems that sound randomly drops out but only using hdmi. When I use optical there is no drops. I want to keep the hdmi connection due to features. But random drops in sound is not ideal.

Asked by: Nick177
Hello, HDMI can mean a complex means of two devices communicating. Sometimes can result in handshaking issues between two components. The first thing I would do is a reset on both devices. This means disconnecting the HDMI cable completely and removing both the Soundbar and the TV from their power sources for at least 15 minutes. From there, reconnect the HDMI cable and power them both back-up. If this doesn't fix the issue, it might be worth trying an upgraded HDMI cable. We recommend Audioquest, as their HDMI cables have yet to let us down. If you require help with troubleshooting, here is a link to our Customer Care Team. Can I play my Denon turntable + Denon amplifier through this through the HEOS app?

Asked by: stoney
Hi Stoney, Unfortunately the DHT-S517 does not support the use of the HEOS app. For that you would need the Home 550 Soundbar. https://www.denon.com/en-us/product/sound-bars/denon-home-sound-bar-550/300052-new.html The DHT-S517 does have an analog input however, therefore a truntable with a phono pre-amp can be connected to the AUX input.
