Rated 5 out of 5 by hcrendogg21 from I am loving it so far. The upgrade did improve the audio and video quality of the unit. The sound is much better. Movies sound much more alive than before. I can hear the little things I never noticed before. The surround environment is incredible. I am using a 7.2.2 setup and it's sounds great. The video is crisper and football in 1080p is just as clear as 4k. My tv is Sony 4k and it's fine for me because there is not that much available in 4 or 8k. My opinion is 1080p/i is just fine if you have a premium television. I'm still having a few glitches with the setup but I think it will cure itself shortly. If not, I'll call customer support and see what they have to say about it. Maybe not so much setup. When I turn on the unit using the remote, sometimes it doesn't turn on the rest of the inputs that assigned. For instance if I am wanting to watch tv. Sometimes everything power ups except the tv and I will need use the tv remote to turn it on. I shouldn't need to do that.

I have the x8500h if I get this board there's only 1 2.1 hdmi port even though the new ones have more 2.1 ports. I have the play station and am getting a 8k tv I can only use 1 at a time

Is there a difference between the avr-x8500h with the upgrade board and the avr-x8500ha? I currently own the H, and would like to know if it would be better to upgrade my existing unit or upgrade to the HA. Thank you.

Hello, The upgrade board allows for your AVR-X8500H to be HDCP 2.3 compliant, and also offers a 4K/120Hz (8K) HDMI input and 2x 8K Monitor outputs, one of which handles an eARC feed from a TV. Unfortunately, availability for the upgrade board for the AVR-X8500H is currently inconclusive.

Hello, With the upgrade board, among the seven HDMI inputs there is 1 x 8K/60Hz (4K/120 Hz) HDMI input. There are 2 x 8K/60 Hz (4K/120Hz) outputs (Monitor 1 & 2). eARC is supported.
