Denon Wows With 13.2 Channel AVR-X8500H at CES 2018

The Consumer Electronics Show is the global stage for the latest in technology and innovation. If there’s something new and noteworthy in tech, you’ll see it first at CES.

And this year, Denon delivered with the unveiling of the AVR-X8500H, the world’s first 13.2 channel AV receiver. It’s already been well-received by the press and was awarded an AVS Forum Best of CES 2018 accolade during the show, and was selected for Residential Systems CES Picks recognition.

The AVR-X8500H supports DTS:X and Dolby Atmos, with up to 7.1.6 or 9.1.4 speaker configurations, and 13.1 channel Auro-3D configuration. Eight HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs provide flexible customization for home theater, and built-in HEOS technology works with Amazon Alexa for wireless whole-home audio and voice control.

Better, bigger home theater was a key storyline across the showcase floor. Polk Audio revealed the Command Bar, the first sound bar with Alexa built-in, and Marantz unveiled a 13.2channel AV pre-amplifier/processor as an unamplified option to the Denon AVR-X8500H. Soon enough, home theaters will outpace traditional movie theaters in terms of visual and audio technology. We’re already getting close.

If you didn’t get a chance to visit CES or follow along online, here are some Denon highlights from the show.

Denon’s steep history of pioneering technology continues with the introduction of the AVR-X8500H, the world’s first 13.2 channel AV receiver.

The 13.2 channel AVR-X8500H is fully compatible with the latest HDMI and HDCP 2.2 specifications and prepared for any 4K Ultra HD source.

The front panel of the AVR-X8500H, seen here, features quick selects for sources and zones, as well as inputs for USB and HDMI. The flagship series will be available in black and, for the first time in a decade within North American markets, silver.

The AVR-X8500H was awarded with a Best of CES 2018 nod from AVS Forum. First impressions of the AVR are overwhelmingly positive — Audioholics Online AV Magazine rates it as a Gotta Have It product.

AVS Forum spent some time with Yoshinori Yamada, Technical Category Manager for Denon. They discussed the Denon AVR-X8500H and Marantz AV8805 features. Watch the interview to get a closer look at the AVR-X8500H.
