Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my DP-400 but silly Newbie question We have this connected to a speaker, but due to space (living in a small NYC apartment) we would like to connect this to our Marshall speaker via Bluetooth as we won't want wires crossing the living room. Is there a way to make the player adaptable so we don't need to plug in a speaker? Thanks so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great record player, stock cartridge is not bad. This is a great priced record player. Paired it with Yamaha S-501 and Fluance floor standing speakers. Visually it is equally very pleasing. Cover is awkward but it is actually very functional for me. It can be used as record cover display. Also, it is better for me to take it off and leave the player open. Stock stylus is not bad. I however also purchased an high end $450 AT stylus which improved the sound considerably but given that this record player cost as the same, I would not expect Denon to include an expensive cartridge. My recommendation is that you should upgrade the stock cartridge with perhaps an AT costing around $100. It will make a huge difference. I am disappointed with Denon however that it doesn’t offer reasonably priced cartridges. I would really like to buy a 110 cartridge for less than $200. Overall, this is a great record player. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vinyls LOVE the DP-400 Great TT from Denon. There was a reason that I held onto all my vinyls. Ones that I purchased back in the 70s. The vinyls spinning on the DP-400 along with Bowers and Wilkins speakers sounds fabulous!

Questions

Hello. Big fan of denon equipment. About to buy an avr x3800h. Will this turnable play well with this amp? Thanks!

Asked by: KB75
Hello, Yes - the DP-400 connects straight into the AVR-X3800H's phono input with the DP-400's built-in phono pre-amp (equalizer) disengaged. Alternatively, the DP-400 can connect to any of the AVR-X3800H's other analog line inputs with it's built-in phono pre-amp engaged. Either way works. You may prefer one setting over the other. Here is a link with how to switch between the two settings: https://manuals.denon.com/DP400/ALL/EN/OBAOSYymeqjzlq.php#OBAOMLtbueyxsr

Big Denon fan here as I still have 2 of the AVRs from the 90s with me. Bought TT: ? 1. Amazon, I also bought the DL-110 for $256 and want to know if what I got is genuine? 2. Using the built-in phono pre-amp, any reco on a cable upgrade? cable specs?

Asked by: Ricky Bringas
Hello Ricky, It isn't easy to make a replica cartridge, so it's liikely to be the real thing if it looks identical to how we picture the DL-110 on our website. At the price you mention, it might be worth checking to see whether or not it is brand new. The built-in pre-amp should work well enough, although experimenting with the phono pre-amps in your existing equipment (if they have one - not all AVRs did in the 90's) may be worthwhile as not not all phono pre-amps are created equal. When connecting to your AVR, you will need to use any of the Line Inputs on the rear panel (not the input labeled 'phono') if you are using the DP-400s built-in phono pre-amp. If you by-pass the DP-400's built-in phono pre-amp, you will need to use your AVR's 'phono' input (if it has one). Shielded copper cables are recommended. We use Audioquest as their cables have yet to let us down.

Is a 78 RPM stylus available for the stock cartridge? What is the model number of the cartridge?

Asked by: JohnnyBoy
Hello, You will require a dedicated cartridge if you wish to use a mono cartridge. Almost all will fit the DP-400. The make and model of the supplied cartridge is Audio Technica CN6518.

I'm a novice with the new tech. I have the DP400 turntable and I need to know if I purchased the D-M41 Is that all I will need to get my turntable to work and have sound. Or do I also need a set of separate speakers to go with the D-M41?

Asked by: Peggy
Hi Peggy, Speakers are included with the D-M41. The DP-400 has everything you need to connect directly to the D-M41. Here is a link to the one setting which needs attention when you have the DP-400 connected to the D-M41's 'Analog In' port on the rear panel (back of DP-400; equalizer switch 'On'): https://manuals.denon.com/DP400/ALL/EN/OBAOSYymeqjzlq.php

Do I have to buy an amplifier for my DP400 turntable? What speakers work well with it

Asked by: Peggy
Hi Linda, Yes - an amplifier is required to get the DP-400 fully operational for you to enjoy your LPs. For an easy, compact amplifier/speaker solution, the D-M41 makes a great case for itself in a small or medium sized room. Here is a link to the D-M41: https://www.denon.com/en-us/product/mini-systems/d-m41/137196.html

Will this turntable easily connect with any Denon receiver manufactured in the last 5 years?

Asked by: AaronG
Hi AaronG, Yes - the DP-400 excels in this area. The reason being is it gives the option of either using the phono stage built into the receiver (or an external phono pre-amp), or because the DP-400 has a built-in phono pre-amp itself, you can use a regular analog line input of your receiver. This is partocularly useful, as not all receivers have a phono input.

Hello , I have a D M41 denim mini and want to be sure that the DP 400 turntable can be connected to the D M41

Asked by: Cam 27
Hi Cam 27, Yes - the DP-400 and the D-M41 pair well because the DP-400 has a built-in phono pre-amp. Once activated (equalizer on/off switch on the DP-400's rear panel), the DP-400 connects to the D-M41 courtesy of the D-M41's Analog input using the RCA cables included with the DP-400.
