Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am loving it so far. The upgrade did improve the audio and video quality of the unit. The sound is much better. Movies sound much more alive than before. I can hear the little things I never noticed before. The surround environment is incredible. I am using a 7.2.2 setup and it's sounds great. The video is crisper and football in 1080p is just as clear as 4k. My tv is Sony 4k and it's fine for me because there is not that much available in 4 or 8k. My opinion is 1080p/i is just fine if you have a premium television. I'm still having a few glitches with the setup but I think it will cure itself shortly. If not, I'll call customer support and see what they have to say about it. Maybe not so much setup. When I turn on the unit using the remote, sometimes it doesn't turn on the rest of the inputs that assigned. For instance if I am wanting to watch tv. Sometimes everything power ups except the tv and I will need use the tv remote to turn it on. I shouldn't need to do that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 8K upgrade board. I give it four stars because there's only one 8K input. The upgrade seems to work as it should with no issues using my XBSERIESX at 4k120.

I will like to know if upgrading from 4k to 8k it will also improve the sound quality on the system because I check some of your reviews people talking about the improvement they experience their upgrade or that's just pure imagination?

Asked by: Murano
Hi Murano, 4k and 8K refer only to a video specification (eg. 8K native resolution is 7680 x 4320 pixels, which equates to 33,177,600 total pixels). Neither are related to audio specifications in any way. That's not to say upgrading form a 4K receiver to an 8K won't yield any sonic reward. Some 8k receivers could well feature audio advancements over a 4K compatible AVR (this is usually down to the AVR being newer or higher-end), but it won't have anything to do with the video specification necessarily.
