Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent. Pair with Polk speakers. Excellent. Had mine for 4 years now maybe? For those who complain about speaker configuration or whatever, do your research and learn about Atmos and placement. This is the best receiver out there in my opinion. Been doing surround for many many years and have a side live festival sound business. I’m finicky in creating great sound. Just four stars on ease of use and setup because the average person will have a learning curve. Get someone to help. I personally had no issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Product, I am totally satisfied. The fact that Denon gives you 60 days to return this, on their dime, if you aren't satisfied with the product speaks volumes about the confidence they have in what they sell. The recent sale price on the X6700H was intriguing to me, as I had an Onkyo TX-RZ50 that I had grown to dislike since I purchased it. The first thing I do when testing a new receiver is connect my 2 main speakers in stereo and listen in direct mode, without any type of processing or room correction. What a pleasant surprise when I hooked up this Denon! I was rewarded with tonally neutral sound. Bass, midrange, treble, were all equally represented and the sound presentation was totally clear without any harshness or distortion. Contrast this with the Onkyo TX-RZ50 I was using, which was a disaster - it had a hollow, tinny sound with very poor performance at loud volumes. I would use terms like brittle, distorted, harsh, etc. to describe the Onkyo's sound performance. To be clear, the only thing that changed in my setup was the AVR. The speakers and everything remained the same, and in the same locations. It is hard to believe that this type of sound improvement could be attained by upgrading to a Denon receiver, but that is exactly what happened. The speakers (JBL Studio L) sound much better being driven by the Denon, and they can reach very loud levels easily while still sounding great. Another surprise was how much better the subwoofer pre-amp signal quality was on the Denon. Bass response out of my subwoofers is much tighter, and cleaner than it was on the Onkyo receiver. This tells you that the engineers at Denon were focusing on audio quality, which is what is most important in a product like this. Great job Denon. I wish to extend

Questions

I am trying to decide whether to get the x6700h or the x4800h. What are the advantages of the 6700 compared to the 4800 and vice versa? As there is not much price difference between the 2, this might be a chance to get the (much) better sounding one.

Asked by: Gert
Thanks for the answer. This helped me make up my mind. The x6700h will be the one for me. I want the better sounding avr for surround as well as stereo. the number of 8k hdmi connections can be (almost) solved with the avs-3 if there is ever.a need.

My system drops sound when eARC is enabled on an LG OLED TV. I use a powered HDMI cable, the proper HDMI Monitor Output on the 6700 and have tried all settings on the TV. Any ideas for getting consistent sound with eARC?

Asked by: TedG
Hello, Sorry to learn of this technical hitch with your HDMI feed from your LG TV to your AVR-X6700H. If an upgrade of HDMI cable doesn't resolve the issue (well worth a try, as it is often a cure for this type of symptom - we recommend Audioquest) it sounds as though some trouble-shooting is required. Our Customer Care Team are on hand to assist. Here is a link to how they can be contacted: https://www.denon.com/en-us/support/contact-us.html

My SBL and SBR speakers stopped working. Will a factory reset fix this problem? They show up on the Audio level test but no sound comes out of either speaker. All the other 9 speakers and both Subs work fine. How do I do a factory reset?

Asked by: Laserfixr
Hello, Sorry to learn of this inconvenience. It is worth a little trouble-shooting before doing a factory reset. The first thing to do is to run Audyssey again. If that doesn't rectify the issue, our Customer Care Team are on hand to assist. Here is a link to their contact details: https://www.denon.com/en-us/support/contact-us.html

My X4500h doesn't like my new Samsung s95b in terms of CEC. It worked flawlessly with my older Samsung. It turns off perfectly, but doesn't always turn on my Denon. I would hate to upgrade only to find out I have the same issue. I hope Denon is aware?

Asked by: Kazzz
Hello, How well CEC works between any two devices of any given brands is always trial and error. HDMI technology does a lot of things well, but with CEC, it can sometimes create it's won commands, and ignore others. Some users have had success upgrading their HDMI cables - in partocular when choosing brands such as Audioquest, Metra/Ethereal, Vanco and Celerity. These brands have proven to be very dependable with the installers we speak with, and in our own systems.

Which is better--Hook up all components to Denon and use it as a switcher--Or Hook up all Components to my LG 4K TV and us the ARC? Are there advantages either way?

Asked by: Billy Boy 41
Most people who have a home theater Recever will connect everything to it. It defeats the purpose of having the signal going back and forth, even the TV apps are not ideal, I use Roku. My Denon is the brains of the system 9.2 Make use of it and enjoy.

Can you configure the 6700 to power the LCR channels with an external amp, and then power two Zone 1 speakers without using a second external amp?

Asked by: jimmy59
Hello, Yes - The AVR-X6700H can do this. Any of the speaker ports labelled 'assignable' can be used for powering speakers in Zone 2 in the on screen menu. Adding an external amplifier couldn't be easier. Once connected to the LCR pre-out ports, the signal transfer to the external power amp is automatic. https://manuals.denon.com/AVRX6700H/NA/EN/DRDZSYasydxfyy.php

I have a 5.1.2 system, where the front speakers and center speaker are bi-amp, with 2 ceiling Atmos. Can I use this receiver as such? It seems that the receiver could only configured for 5.1, with all speakers bi-amping, or 7.1, with fronts only.

Asked by: wolverinemsz006
Hello, Yes - you can configure the AVR-X6700H to do 5.1.2 with the front left, right and center channels all bi-amped. There are 11 powered channels, and with your configuration, you only require 10 powered channels includeing bi-amping. The second disgram (in the link below) may show all the speakers being bi-amped, but it does not mean you have to bi-amp the rear speakers too. It is assignable to do the configuration you desire. https://manuals.denon.com/AVRX6700H/NA/EN/DRDZSYbiqqjfof.php

What is the best way to control the receiver through closed doors. I have read about a remote app and the heos app. Would rather avoid buying an IR eye system.

Asked by: Nc25
Hello, Yes - the app store of your choosing will give you access to the AVR app and the HEOS app, both of which will give you control of the AVR-X6700H.
