Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sounding Receiver I've enjoyed this receiver for almost a year since submitting this review. It's configured for a 7.2.4 configuration with front speakers bi-amped and two Zone 2 speakers for stereo out on the deck. This setup utilizes all fifteen amplifiers. Bi-amping the two, front speakers allows for plenty of power overhead while critical listening to stereo sources. Movies encoded with Dolby really come alive. As an upgrade to my Marantz SR-7012, I'm extremely happy I chose this AV Receiver. It's versatile and powerful, but most importantly, it sounds great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What's with the Remote ? Just opened the box, and the first thing I noticed was the weak remote? I love Denon and therefore bought the top dog receiver, but at a $2K price difference I expected the remote to be on par with the previous top dog receiver.

Does it support a 9.4.8 configuration? I see there are enough ports for it

Asked by: Pikimorso17
Hello, The processor stage supports a 9.4.8 set-up, but as the AVR-A1H has amplification for a maximum of 15 channels, an optional external amplifier would need to be added for the additional two channels to achieve a 9.4.8 configuration.

Is it possible to use HEOS to send surround back and height channels to another Denon amplifier and sync the two amps up for use during movie playback? If not, are there other options to send these channels over Wifi or Ethernet to seperate amps?

Asked by: agsommerfeld
Hello, With the AVR-A1H, (and alll our other AV receivers), any speaker operating as a speaker in the Main Zone (surround sound set-up) would have to be hard-wired to the AV receiver's speaker terminals. Our Home speakers can receiver a 2 channel signal, but they do not currently wirelessly decode a discrete surround sound signal.

No audio input signal is received on initial powering on. If I turn the A1H off and then power it on again while pressing the power button down for an extended period of time; 5 to 10 seconds, it finally receives an audio input signal. What's wrong?

Asked by: Alfred
Hello, My initial suggestion is to check for a firmware update. https://manuals.denon.com/AVRA1H/NA/EN/GFNFSYldiskxse.php#OKNRMLvzqorsen If this doesn't fix the issue, try a reset. This involves disconnecting the AVR-A1H from it's power source for at least 15 minutes. Then power back up again. If that doesn't do it, try a Firmware reset. Here is a link with details on how this is done: https://manuals.denon.com/AVRA1H/NA/EN/RQIFSYfmmhttob.php If you are still in need of assistance, here is a link to our Product Support Team. I have a 7.1.4 (atmos) speaker system. Sub is powered. If I'm driving all those speakers, what power is getting to them? (Impedance is 6-8 nominal.) Can I expected to have 150W to 11 channels?

Asked by: Specialized007
Denon rates the total power usage of the AVR-A1H as 900 Watts. Continuous total output power will be less than that, although instantaneous output power may be much greater. The 150 wpc continuous output rating is for 2 channels driven into 8 ohm loads. So taking into consideration all the preceding points, I understand that the device will necessarily output LESS THAN 11 channels * 150 wpc = 1,650 Watts continuously. That being said, in actual use, only the main Right, Center and Left channels usually demand significant amounts of power. That’s assuming that you don’t use zones 2 and 3. I would prefer that Denon rate their devices with 3 channels driven, since that more reasonably represents home theater usage. Practically speaking the receiver appears to have gobs of power though.

Hi, in my 9.3.6 HT system, can A1H just sync one subwoofer with the front LCR speakers at 80Hz crossover and meanwhile sync the other two subwoofers with the rest all of the surround & atmos speakers at 120Hz crosover?

Asked by: Arbee
Hello, Yes - the AVR-A1H allows for indivual sub-woofer setting adjustment within the AVR.

I own the A1H and love it. However, I can’t find any information regarding this question: When using one of the sub-outs for the tactile transducer, does the signal from that output bypass the EQ imposed by Audyssey/Dirac or manual-EQ? Thanks!

Asked by: Norelco
Hello, Yes - the signal to the tactile transducer will not be unfluenced by Audyssey or Dirac. This is because room correction relies on speaker/sub-woofer sound waves to make any channel adjustments. As a tactile transducer is not a speaker or a sub-woofer, it is ignored by Audyssey and manual EQ settings.

Does the AVR-A1H support SiriusXM? Currently, I have the Denon AVR-X4700H and it drops the SiriusXM signal a lot. The antenna seems to be very weak.

Asked by: Greg in SoCal
Hello, Yes - you access SiriusXM through the HEOS app - if your wi-fi feed is strong enough, you can have an uninterrupted signal feed of SiriusXM. Here's how to find SiriusXM in HEOS: HEOS App > Music Tab > Cog/wheel (top left of screen) > Music Sources > Online Music > SiriusXM > Sign In > follow instructions on screen.
