I’ve installed this beautiful headshell/cart on my Dp 400 (My first new TT in 30 years) this time opting not to use any spacers and/or extra mat to compensate for possible VTA related issues (which I’ve done with the DL 110, 110r and 103 in the past) but wow! After proper setup with a test Lp and ignoring the obvious tail up situation I went for a test listen and I have no clue why this sounds so awesome. It’s driving me crazy while entertaining me to no end! Extremely recommended! Thank you Denon!!

Questions

Thank you for the response. Is the azimuth adjustable on the headshell? Also, is this cartridge the equivalent to the DL-103 or DL-103R?

Hello, The headshell is a locking device, so azimuth adjustment on the headshell is not possible. The DL-103 and Dl-103R are both low output moving coil cartridges with a conical diamond stylus. Both require a phono pre-amp which supports a low-output moving coil cartridge. The DL-110 is a high output moving coil (which works with a moving magnet phono pre-amp) with an elliptial diamond stylus. It is quite different to the DL103 and DL-103R.

Is this cartridge and head shell combination compatible with the overhang on a Technics SL-1200 turntable?

Hi Jakes Vinyl, Yes - the Technics SL-1200 has an SME fitment type for a headshell, which is what is utilized by the DL-A110, and therefore allows it to work well with the SL-1200's overhang.

Will this DL-A110 Limited 110th Anniversary Edition Moving Coil Cartridge work on my DP-60L turn table? Any other recommendation?

Hi Duke 2, Any one of our cartridges will work well on your DP-60L. If you do not have a removable headshell, the DL-103R is the model to go for as it is the same as the DL-A110, but without the headshell. If you do not have a phono pre-amp which supports a low output moving coil cartridge, I suggest the DL-110 as it is a high output moving coil cartridge and can be use with a moving magnet phono pre-amp.

I have an AVR-X4000 from 2016. Is the phono preamp in the receiver enough to power this cartridge? If not, do you have any recommendations for a phono preamp to work with my AVR-X4000? Thank you.

Hi X4000, The built-in phono pre-amp in the AVR-X4000 supports a moving magnet or high output moving coil cartridge. The DL-A110 is a low output moving coil design. For this you will want an external phono pre-amp. Unfortunately, we don't currently make such a device ourselves. I would suggest looking at models by Graham Slee, Rega, Project and iFi.

I've never heard of a square stylus before ... how does that even read a record's v-shaped groove, and without causing damage?

Hello, With the DL-A110, when we say '0.2 mm square' we mean the stylus shank is square. The actual diamond tip is spherical in shape.

Will this DL-A110 work and mount with my Denon DP-67L / DP-60M turntables and if so will I need any additional weights for the tonearm? both units are completely stock.

Hi Yujiro, It is quite likely the DL-A110 will be okay with your DP-67L and DP-60M turntables as it has rather a light headshell. Unfortunately, we do not have either turntable at hand to be certain.

Does it work on shellac 78 rpm?

Hello, Unfortunately, none of our cartridges are compatible with 78 shellac playback. The groove of an LP is much narrower than the groove of a 78 rpm record. Therefore, you will need a specific cartridge for playing 78s. LP Gear (online store) have a selection of cartridges which support the playback of 78 rpm records.
